You are a priest forever, according to the order of Melchizedek – Hebrews 7:17
Reverend Jason V. Kulczynski, beloved Pastor of Holy Martyrs Parish in Oreland, Pennsylvania passed away during his celebration of Holy Mass on the evening of Saturday, January 27, 2024, immediately following the Consecration of the Blessed Sacrament.
Father Kulczynski was born on September 26, 1961 in Brooklyn, New York. He is the son of the late Wanda (nee Danielski), and Joseph, Jr. who survives.
He was a member of Saint Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church where he attended grade school until moving to New Jersey. The family moved to the Doylestown, Pennsylvania area in 1976 where he was a member of St. Jude Parish in Chalfont.
From a very young age, Father Kulczynski knew he wanted to be a priest. After high school, he entered the Pauline Fathers Monastery at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa, and began studies for the priesthood at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary. Soon thereafter, he joined the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, and was ordained a priest on May 20, 1989.
Following ordination, Father served at a number of parishes in the Archdiocese. He also spent 12 years in Catholic Education, serving as chaplain at both Bonner-Prendergast and Neumann-Goretti Catholic High Schools, where he also taught theology and Latin. During this time he resided at St. Philomena Church in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania.
In September of 2011, Father Kulczynski was appointed Parochial Administrator of St. Philomena Church, where in November of that year he welcomed Father Giovanni Braschi, the Rector of the International Shrine of St. Philomena in Italy, who was present for the conference titled, “It’s Time to Meet Saint Philomena.” On February 12, 2012, Father Kulczynski was appointed the first National Director of the Archconfraternity of Saint Philomena for the United States.
Since 2015, Father has served as pastor of Holy Martyrs Parish in Oreland, making it the location of the National Center of the Universal Archconfraternity of Saint Philomena.
He served as liaison for, and was a regular celebrant of, the Traditional Latin Mass in the Archdiocese, including a monthly liturgy at the Czestochowa Shrine in Doylestown.
In addition to his pastoral and teaching work, Father was the host of Aim High on Radio Maria, and has been featured on Sunday Night Prime with Fr. Anthony Apostoli on EWTN, Relevant Radio, Domestic Church Radio, Guadalupe Radio, and KYW News Radio.
An avid collector of sacred relics for many years, he and his collection have recently toured area parishes and schools, sharing the stories of the holy men and women who have gone before us. Father loved animals, especially dogs. He would always keep dog treats on hand, including in his car.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his sister Karen (David) Trickett of Chalfont, a niece and a nephew, and cousins from the greater New York City area. He was beloved by many, especially the people of his parish, and will be sorely missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, February 5, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Holy Martyrs Catholic Church, 120 Allison Road, Oreland, PA 19075.
